Happy New Year from Fantasy Uprising 2025!
Greetings from the development “team”—just me, Babble Baz! I hope everyone had a safe and festive New Year’s Eve. The Mrs. and I rang in the new year with great food, fun games, and lively conversation at our neighbor’s house before watching the ball drop.
Development Updates
The Fantasy Uprising 2025 project has made significant progress! Tonight, I dove into creating the user information screen, a key piece of the T.A.G./Telegard-inspired design. I underestimated the scale of this task—there’s a lot of detail to replicate that classic feel. I’d say I’m about three-quarters of the way through, but it’s shaping up nicely.
The message boards are functional and seem stable, which is a great milestone for the planned Alpha release. That said, there’s still plenty of coding to tackle before it’s ready. My original goal was to launch the Alpha by January 13th, just before the new semester begins. However, with the work left to do and some upcoming travel to winterize the farm in Arkansas next week, I’ve had to adjust my timeline. I’m now aiming for an Alpha release by January 31st.
With my vacation ending tomorrow, I’ll be juggling coding with my day job again. But I’ve still got the weekend to focus on completing the user screen, after which I’ll shift gears to building the telnet connection and Flask app to bring the BBS to the outside world.
Here’s to a productive January and, as always, happy computing!
