An Update
They say that when it rains it pours, and this week has been a monsoon. A few days ago I was training my new Dungeon Master AI model for the door game, and my main desktop decided that it wanted to do the BSOD dance for the entire day. Not being able to boot at all, I finally used a Linux Live CD to boot and run some test, and to my surprise, I had a memory stick going out. I narrowed it down, pulled the defective stick and now I’m waiting on a new stick to come in next week to replace it.
My current computer, is pushing 6 years old, and it has seen many, many hours of gaming, developing, ML models and school work, however, it is time to retire it.
I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new rig that will not ship until around the 13 of March. However, when I get it, this thing will be a beast, and I am so pump and ready for it. I switched from the Ryzen 9 to an Intel 9, went from 64gig to 192 gigs of Ram, and dual 4090 cards to run ML Models on. With 10 tb of NVME drive storage, I am hoping that when it is here, that I will not see any errors for a long time.
Nevertheless, it has delayed my releasing the Retro BBS for a few weeks. I finally got the new Linux server in, and I will be setting it up on Sunday to get it ready to handle the BBS and LLM duties.
As for the door game I am working on, the goal is to create a fully functional dungeon crawl type game that will allow a user to progress through different levels, will allow them to save their progress and will have a full AI driven Dungeon Master. Even though my main machine is crippled right now, I’m still training models to be an efficient DM.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Happy Computing,
Babble Baz
