How quickly time flies while you are in school.
💾 Dev Log Update — T-Minus 2 Weeks!
I know, I’ve been posting message after message saying just how busy I’ve been, and that I’ll have the Retro BBS up and running soon — or at least opened for Alpha testing.
But the reality is… Grad School is kicking this old man’s backside!
Between a reorg at my day job and grinding through grad assignments, I’m lucky to find time to just sit — let alone dive into BBS code or get lost in Telnet screens.
🧠 What’s Next?
This semester wraps up in about two weeks, and although I thought I’d be taking summer classes… I’ve decided to hit pause and take a well-earned breather.
That means:
- ✅ The Retro BBS will get finished
- ✅ The Dungeon Master X door game will get polished
- ✅ We’ll be on track and rolling into next semester stronger than ever
🤓 What I’ve Learned Lately
Even while buried in work and school, I’ve been learning a ton:
- How to build and fine-tune Large Language Models
- How to inject RAG content for campaign-specific lore
- How to quantize models to 4/8-bit for faster local loading
- And — get this — I went full Nerdvana and linked seven different LLMs together to run a D&D campaign with themselves as the Dungeon Masters 🤯
So yeah… still nerding. Just doing it in the few hours between deadlines and reality checks.
💬 Final Word (For Now)
Hang in there with me. We’re so close to bringing a fully functional, 1992-style retro BBS back online — ANSI screens, door games, and all.
🕰️ T-Minus 2 Weeks until the semester ends!
Happy Computing,
Babble Baz
