🎉 Greetings and Salutations, Retro BBS Fanatics! 🎉
The alpha gates are open and the bytes are flying — welcome to the public Alpha of Retro42BBS!
Now that you beautiful nerds are crawling around the system, I’ve been hammering away at the codebase like a caffeinated sysop in a ‘90s basement. Yes, there are still a few bugs hiding in the shadows like gremlins in a CRT, but I’m squashing them faster than you can say ATDT.
🚀 What’s New in Tonight’s Build? Glad you asked!
- 🔐 API Layer Fully Online – We now have a robust backend API with encrypted API key support. All the data is flowing like ANSI art at midnight.
- 🔑 Password Management – You can finally change your password! Welcome to the future. It’s 2025 and the BBS lets you manage your own credentials. What a time to be alive.
- 🎮 New Door Games!
- Trivia Time! – Pulled straight from the Open Trivia Database, challenge yourself with 10 questions and see if your brain still has what it takes.
- Blackjack – Start with $100 and see if Lady Luck is on your side. Run out of cash? No problem! You can borrow money by trading minutes from your time bank. Time is money, after all.
📝 What’s Next?
While neither game tracks your high scores, money, or win streaks (yet), that’s coming up soon. I’m working on adding persistent game state through new APIs so your feats of trivia or Blackjack glory won’t be lost to the digital void.
💭 After that? Oh, you know… just casually plugging in DM42 — my original AI Dungeon Master — to let you explore epic adventures straight from the command line.
Until next time, keep your modem warm, your coffee black, and your cursor blinking.
Happy Computing,
— Babble Baz 👾
