Happy Independence Day
Mrs. Baz and I aren’t really the “big crowd” type, so tonight I dove deep into the second rewrite of the BBS. I’m still converting everything to C#, but this time it’s all driven by Retro42BBS.API — a big step forward in modernizing the system.
I’ve also been exploring the Accord .NET Framework, which opens the door for embedding new AI features directly into the BBS. If all goes to plan, I won’t need to run a hybrid with Python for the Door Games — Accord will let me do it all in pure C#. Less hassle, more retro magic!
Tonight was a powerhouse coding session. By the end of tomorrow night, the Main Menu should be fully fleshed out and functional. After that, I’ll build out the Bulletin Board System and open things up for Alpha testing.
We’re so close to bringing ANSI graphics and classic BBS vibes back to the forefront of modern tech. While you’re waiting patiently for Fantasy Uprising 2025, don’t forget — there are still tons of BBSes out there, waiting for a quick Telnet connection. A quick search will take you right back to the golden days.
Happy Computing, and happy Fourth!
